Four of Five Products Exclusive to Costco Are Launched in Colorado
Lafayette, Colo., October 27, 2009 – Piccolo Foods, the year old brand of artisanal, preservative-free dips, pestos, spreads and tapenades, has this month begun its first sale of five products in a series of Colorado based Costco Roadshows. The Piccolo line is already available in specialty foods markets and grocery stores throughout Colorado, Texas, New York City and New Jersey.
Of the five products available at the special Costco sales events, only two are among the brand’s 20+ existing varieties. The others are for now available only at Costco, the nation’s leading Club store. “Costco wanted something special...something unique to them,” said Mallory Kates, President of Piccolo Foods. “Our team worked for months to perfect recipes that Costco’s extremely particular regional buyers would choose for their customers.”
The special Costco combinations include White Balsamic & Fig Spread, Mango Salsa and Romano Herb Dip. The company’s flavorful, low-calorie Tzing spread and a variation of its spicy Smoked Gouda spread round out the group of five products offered.
The Costco stores hosting Piccolo are located throughout the Denver Metro area and include the very popular warehouse located in Superior, where Piccolo’s products will be on sale from October 29th to November 1st. "Our first sale event was a four day period earlier in the month in the town of Thornton,” said Kates. “We were delighted by the reception given our products and by the fact that the Costco employees seemed impressed by our sales numbers.” The event was followed by another in Park Meadows where the sales results were even higher. The next, in Superior, is expected to bring still higher sales volumes. According to Costco executives, the Boulder County location is one of its busiest in Colorado.
All Piccolo products are designed to help today's time-constrained home cooks create restaurant-quality meals and parties quickly and inexpensively, says the Piccolo product literature. Curt Tellam, co-founder of Piccolo says, "The current economy means that more people will cook and entertain at home, and our products give them a great creative shortcut."
Tellory Inc.is a Colorado-based company founded in 2006 as Chello Foods. The company sells its Ciolo line of preservative-free, artisanal pestos, dips and spreads exclusively to more than 100 Whole Foods Markets nationwide. In December 2008, the company launched its second brand, Piccolo Foods, an equally healthy, natural line of hand-crafted tapenades, spreads, dips and pestos, in key U.S. regions. Co-founders Curt Tellam and Mallory Kates take special pride in the fact that they not only source their own ingredients, their company also manufactures every product from its own facility in Boulder County, Colorado.
